For the first time in Atlanta’s history, participating cultural institutions will offer special admission deals for the general public between April 25 and May 1 as a way to celebrate the city’s museums and cultural destinations. This is being done in conjunction with the 2015 American Alliance of Museums (AAM) Annual Meeting in Atlanta. Themed “Discover What’s New,” this first Museum Week is designed to invite people to explore the diverse cultural offerings the city has to offer.
“It is our hope is that as a result of this opportunity, Atlantans will gain a deeper understanding of the social value of museums through their programs and collections, educational opportunities, and their public service,” said Sheffield Hale, president & CEO of the Atlanta History Center and Local Conference Chair for the AAM 2015 Annual Meeting. “While this program is being undertaken in conjunction with the conference, it is our collective intention to make this an ongoing annual event in Atlanta.”
