Malcolm’s Marietta Summer Math Challenge (MMSMC) is a free one-day event to encourage K-5 students to fall in love with math during the summer break.
The event is inspired by my love for my seven year-old son, Malcolm. Malcolm is a very bright student and avid reader. However, he struggled with math and I spent many hours tutoring him at home after a full day of work and school. Home tutoring was not enough and I placed him in an after school tutoring program.
The event will help kids just like Malcolm and offer free math resources to Marietta K-5 students. Volunteers will lead fun interactive math games and sessions. The event is limited to 60 registered attendees and all participants will receive a free MMSMC kit.
This event is free and open to the public but pre-registration is required, you must bring your tickets to be admitted to the event. Register on Eventbrite by clicking this link, REGISTER.
Special thanks to McDonald’s for supporting my idea and selecting me as the #365HerStory Women’s History Month contest winner.
